An oyster gets invaded by a parasite.
To survive the intrusion, it releases layers of a material that forms its shell.
This substance, called mother of pearl, encases the intruder and protects the oyster from further harm.
Over time this act of self healing transforms the wound into a pearl.
Mother Of Pearl (2025) is an experimental short film, a personal reflection on the lived reality of sexually transmitted infections in women, the aftermath, self and collective healing.
